The citizens of Prophetstown, Illinois, had a vision of revitalization for their Main Street. Prophetstown has worked hard to revitalize the Main Street by a facade grant, a good membership base, and excellent volunteers who work with the City of Prophetstown and the businesses to grow together and make Prophetstown a wonderful place to work, raise children and retire. In 2005, the town was named “The Most Arts-Friendly Small Town in Illinois” by the Illinois Art Alliance Foundation.
Prophetstown remains true to the hallmarks of small-town life: Friendly, caring people; established local institutions and businesses, pride in well-maintained homes and offices, schools, city facilities and parks, and a strong faith community.
